Author/s’ Contribution Statement

The FORUM for Group Psychotherapies and Processes mandates that all authors publicly accept responsibility for the content of the submitted work.

In accordance with the guidelines set by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), authorship should be attributed only to those who meet all the following criteria:

  • Significant contributions to the conception or design of the work, or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  • Drafting the work or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
  • Approval of the final version to be published.
  • Accountability for all aspects of the work, ensuring that any questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Individuals who do not meet these authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the 'Acknowledgements' section instead. This ensures transparency and proper attribution of contributions.

Multiple Authors Contributions: Contributions from all authors should be detailed as in the example that follows:

Study conception and design: Author 1, Author 2; data collection: Author 2; analysis and interpretation of results: Author 2, Author 3, Author 4; draft manuscript preparation: Author 1, Author 3. Each author's name can appear multiple times but must be listed at least once.

Single Author Contributions: For single-author submissions, the following wording should be used:

The author confirms sole responsibility for the following: study conception and design, data collection, analysis and interpretation of results, and manuscript preparation.

This detailed and structured approach to author contribution ensures clarity and accountability in the publication process, aligning with best practices in academic publishing.

Acknowledgment

The acknowledgement section can be used to thank anyone important in the publication of the work who does not qualify for authorship. In fact, there are many people involved in a research project who are not authors but have provided valuable contributions. For example, one person’s responsibility might be to seek project funding; another might be to supervise laboratory staff. A few others might have provided valuable services such as technical editing and writing or offering help in reviewing the manuscript. These people should also be mentioned in the acknowledgment section of your manuscript.
